Why should you choose Bike Damage Protection for your rental bicycle?

For your peace of mind, CCT Bike Rental offers optional Bike Damage Protection, designed to protect your rental bicycle against accidental damage or breakage during your rental period.

Enjoy your cycling adventure with extra confidence, knowing that unexpected repair costs for covered damage can be reimbursed.

What does Bike Damage Protection cover?

• Accidental damage or breakage to bicycle components during normal, permitted use.
• 100% coverage of approved repair or replacement costs for damaged components, including derailleurs, shifters, brake systems and other covered bicycle components, without a maximum reimbursement limit.
• Carbon wheels: Damage is covered up to a maximum of €300 per bicycle per rental period.
• Local bicycle repairs: Covered repairs may be carried out by a professional local bicycle repair shop, subject to prior approval from CCT Bike Rental.
• Reimbursement: Approved repair costs will be reimbursed upon submission of a valid, itemized repair invoice.

What is not covered?

Bicycle frame damage

• Damage or breakage to bicycle frames, including carbon and aluminium frames.

Carbon wheels

• Carbon wheel repair or replacement costs exceeding €300 per bicycle per rental period. Any additional costs remain the renter’s responsibility, subject to applicable law.

Theft and vandalism

• Theft, robbery, disappearance or vandalism.

Irresponsible use

• Damage resulting from reckless riding, negligence or misuse.
• Damage caused by deliberately ignoring traffic regulations or safety instructions.
• Damage resulting from using the bicycle for activities outside its intended purpose.

Riding under the influence

• Damage occurring while riding under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication that impairs the ability to ride safely.

Other exclusions

• Normal wear and tear of bicycle components.
• Damage that existed before the rental period.
• Repairs carried out without prior approval from CCT Bike Rental.
• Transportation expenses, roadside assistance or replacement bicycles.
• Compensation for lost cycling days, missed events or other consequential expenses, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

What happens if your bicycle gets damaged?

If your bicycle is damaged during your rental period, please follow these steps:

1. Contact CCT Bike Rental as soon as possible and explain what happened.
2. Provide photographs of the damage and, where possible, a description of the incident.
3. Visit a local professional bicycle repair shop to have the damage assessed.
4. Obtain approval from CCT Bike Rental before proceeding with any repairs or component replacements.
5. Keep the repair invoice and submit a valid, itemized copy to CCT Bike Rental.
6. Receive reimbursement of the approved repair costs covered by your Bike Damage Protection.

Approved repair costs will be reimbursed after the rental period, following receipt and verification of the repair invoice.

Important: Bicycle replacement and roadside assistance

CCT Bike Rental delivers bicycles across a wide geographical area, sometimes several hours away from our rental location.

For this reason, we do not provide on-site bicycle replacements, bicycle exchanges or roadside assistance as part of Bike Damage Protection.

If your bicycle becomes damaged or cannot be ridden safely, you are responsible for arranging transportation to a local bicycle repair shop.

Bike Damage Protection covers approved repair costs only. It does not cover transportation expenses, replacement bicycle rentals, lost cycling days or other consequential costs, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Important conditions

• Bike Damage Protection is optional and must be purchased before the rental period begins.
• Coverage applies only during the agreed rental period.
• Damage must be reported to CCT Bike Rental as soon as reasonably possible.
• Repairs and replacement components must be approved by CCT Bike Rental in advance.
• Reimbursement is limited to reasonable, necessary and documented repair costs for covered damage.
• The €300 limit for carbon wheels applies to the total of all covered carbon wheel claims per bicycle during the rental period.
• For all other covered bicycle components, there is no maximum reimbursement limit.
• Bike Damage Protection does not remove the renter’s responsibility for damage excluded from the protection.
• Nothing in these conditions limits any mandatory consumer rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.
